Abdullayeva Saadat Abutalib gizi, musicologist

was born in Baku, on January 18, 1940.

In 1958 she has finished specialized music secondary school named after Bul-Bul. In 1962 she has finished the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (department - Azerbaijan national music).

Since 1962 to 1971 she's been working as junior research assistant at the Institute of Architecture and Music in the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Republic. Since 1965 to 1968 she was a graduate student in the same Institute. In 1968 she has defended the doctoral thesis and has earned her master degree in art history.

Since 1971 to 1979 she's been working as senior teacher in department of Azerbaijan national music øn Baki Music Academy. In 1981 she has became an associate professor, and in 1992 she has became professor.

She has published the textbooks: «Historiography of the Azerbaijan national music instruments » (1991), « Azerbaijan national instruments and orchestration» (1996); articles: « Problems of study of the Azerbaijan national instruments » (1992), « Azerbaijan national instruments in the miniatures of «Hamsa » of Nizami" (1994); methodical supply « Orchestration for Azerbaijan national instruments».

She is an author of the monumental work «Azerbaijan national instruments » (2000).

The practical value of this book is that it describes ancient instruments; many of them were not kept but due to materials of the mentioned book today they are restored in research laboratory of «Reconstruction and improvement of ancient instruments » at the Baki Music Academy.

G. Abdullayeva is the member of the Union of the Composers of Azerbaijan since 1978.

She's been awarded with the Honourable Gramota of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic.
